Taft Mosswood is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 1,636 at the 2020 census, up from 1,530 at the 2010 census. It comprises an unincorporated island surrounded by the City of Stockton.

Taft Mosswood is located at (37.916324, -121.281563).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.5 sqmi, 97.26% of it land and 2.74% of it water.

2020

The 2020 United States census reported that Taft Mosswood had a population of 1,636. The population density was 3,518.3 PD/sqmi. The racial makeup of Taft Mosswood was 13.5% White, 7.6% African American, 2.6% Native American, 13.6% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander, 46.6% from other races, and 15.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 73.6% of the population.

The census reported that 99.6% of the population lived in households, 0.4% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.

There were 405 households, out of which 54.1% included children under the age of 18, 46.9% were married-couple households, 10.6% were cohabiting couple households, 25.2% had a female householder with no partner present, and 17.3% had a male householder with no partner present. 9.6% of households were one person, and 5.7% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 4.02.

The age distribution was 32.3% under the age of 18, 10.7% aged 18 to 24, 24.1% aged 25 to 44, 21.8% aged 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 30.3years. For every 100 females, there were 103.2 males.

There were 427 housing units at an average density of 918.3 /mi2, of which 405 (94.8%) were occupied. Of these, 59.3% were owner-occupied, and 40.7% were occupied by renters.

2023 estimates

In 2023, the US Census Bureau estimated that the median household income was $55,526, and the per capita income was $23,920. About 25.9% of families and 19.0% of the population were below the poverty line.
