Sky Valley is a census-designated place in Riverside County, California. Sky Valley sits at an elevation of 994 ft. The 2020 United States census reported Sky Valley's population was 2,411.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 24.3 square miles (63.0 km), all of it land.

Sky Valley first appeared as a census designated place in the 2010 U.S. census.

The 2020 United States census reported that Sky Valley had a population of 2,411. The population density was 99.1 PD/sqmi. The racial makeup of Sky Valley was 59.5% White, 1.5% African American, 1.3% Native American, 1.5% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 21.2% from other races, and 15.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 36.9% of the population.

The census reported that 98.3% of the population lived in households, 1.7% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.

There were 967 households, out of which 18.8% included children under the age of 18, 43.3% were married-couple households, 5.4% were cohabiting couple households, 25.7% had a female householder with no partner present, and 25.5% had a male householder with no partner present. 33.0% of households were one person, and 18.7% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.45.

The age distribution was 17.3% under the age of 18, 5.6% aged 18 to 24, 20.0% aged 25 to 44, 27.6% aged 45 to 64, and 29.5% who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 52.8years. For every 100 females, there were 113.4 males.

There were 1,692 housing units at an average density of 69.6 /mi2, of which 967 (57.2%) were occupied. Of these, 80.4% were owner-occupied, and 19.6% were occupied by renters.

Cultural references

Seminal desert rock band Kyuss released the highly acclaimed album Welcome to Sky Valley in 1994. The album's cover artwork features a photo of a welcome sign located outside of the town, which has since become an attraction for fans of the band.
