Parkway is a Census-designated place in Sacramento County, California.

Prior to the 2010 United States census, Parkway was grouped with Fruitridge Pocket and Lemon Hill in the Parkway-South Sacramento, California CDP.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 2.4 square miles (6.2 km), all of it land.

Parkway first appeared as a census designated place in the 2010 U.S. census formed from formed from part of the deleted Parkway-South Sacramento CDP and from area detached from Sacramento city.

The 2020 United States census reported that Parkway had a population of 15,962. The population density was 6,626.0 PD/sqmi. The racial makeup of Parkway was 20.4% White, 16.9% African American, 1.6% Native American, 18.8% Asian, 1.6% Pacific Islander, 28.8% from other races, and 11.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 43.9% of the population.

The census reported that 97.1% of the population lived in households, 2.8% lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 0.1% were institutionalized.

There were 4,750 households, out of which 44.5% included children under the age of 18, 39.3% were married-couple households, 8.8% were cohabiting couple households, 32.5% had a female householder with no partner present, and 19.4% had a male householder with no partner present. 20.4% of households were one person, and 7.7% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 3.26.

The age distribution was 28.1% under the age of 18, 10.2% aged 18 to 24, 28.9% aged 25 to 44, 21.9% aged 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 32.1years. For every 100 females, there were 97.7 males.

There were 5,054 housing units at an average density of 2,098.0 /mi2, of which 4,750 (94.0%) were occupied. Of these, 45.5% were owner-occupied, and 54.5% were occupied by renters.
