History
The Embassy of India in Moscow (; ) was built in 1821, remodeled in 1896, and transferred to the Indian government in 1952 to serve as the official embassy. The embassy complex comprises multiple buildings, including the aristocratic-style "Chancery Building," the rational-modern style ambassador's residence, and a French-style building known as "Napoleon's Dacha." The Chancery Building was previously owned by an arts patron, a textile magnate, and the Soviet government before being transferred to India in 1952.
India and the former Soviet Union established diplomatic relations in 1947. Since then, the Indian Embassy in Moscow has played a key role in strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in defense, trade, and cultural exchange.
