Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 2.1 square miles (5.4 km2), 96.44% of it land and 3.56% of it water.

The 2020 United States census reported that Cassel had a population of 207. The population density was 102.2 PD/sqmi. The racial makeup of Cassel was 181 (87.4%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 1 (0.5%) Native American, 2 (1.0%) Asian, 2 (1.0%) Pacific Islander, 6 (2.9%) from other races, and 15 (7.2%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14 persons (6.8%).

The whole population lived in households. There were 100 households, out of which 11 (11.0%) had children under the age of 18 living in them, 56 (56.0%) were married-couple households, 7 (7.0%) were cohabiting couple households, 18 (18.0%) had a female householder with no partner present, and 19 (19.0%) had a male householder with no partner present. 29 households (29.0%) were one person, and 22 (22.0%) were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.07.
