History and profile

The headquarters of Bungakukai is in Tokyo. Along with Shinchō, Gunzo, Bungei and **, it is one of the five leading literary journals in Japan. It runs a contest for newcomer writers Bungakukai Shinjinshō (, Newcomer Award of Literary World).
