Big Lagoon is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California, United States, located 7 mi north of Trinidad at an elevation of 56 ft. The population as of the 2020 census was 161, an increase from 93 in the 2010 census. The area covers .61 mi2, excluding water.

According to the 2020 United States census, Big Lagoon had a population of 161. The population density was 265.2 PD/sqmi. The racial makeup of Big Lagoon was 93 (57.8%) White, 2 (1.2%) African American, 51 (31.7%) Native American, 0 (0.0%) Asian, 1 (0.6%) Pacific Islander, 2 (1.2%) from other races, and 12 (7.5%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 25 persons (15.5%).

All residents lived in households, with 79 households recorded. Out of these, 15 (19.0%) had children under the age of 18 living in them, 23 (29.1%) were married-couple households, 13 (16.5%) were cohabiting couple households, 27 (34.2%) had a female householder with no partner present, and 16 (20.3%) had a male householder with no partner present. 29 (36.7%) of households were one person, and 12 (15.2%) were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.04, with 41 families (51.9% of all households).

The age distribution was 30 people (18.6%) under the age of 18, 10 people (6.2%) aged 18 to 24, 24 people (14.9%) aged 25 to 44, 45 people (28.0%) aged 45 to 64, and 52 people (32.3%) who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 54.3years. There were 76 males and 85 females.

There were 128 housing units at an average density of 210.9 /mi2. Out of these, 79 (61.7%) were occupied, 57 (72.2%) were owner-occupied, and 22 (27.8%) were occupied by renters.
