The team finished the season with a 19–1 record, was retroactively named the national champion by the Helms Athletic Foundation, and was retroactively listed as the top team of the season by the Premo-Porretta Power Poll. Two players were named to the first-ever college basketball All-American team at the end of the season: Harry Fisher and Marcus Hurley.
